For Now…

Ok, so if Christians are supposed to be content, and full in Christ, finding our All in All in Him, completely satisfied and at peace, and all the other stuff that we throw at situations, what is up with all the “Christian Singles” networks?  I’m serious, and am interested in this and opinions.

Christians are to be focused on Christ, His work, His plan in our lives.  We sing countless songs about how He is enough, He satisfies us, no one can love us like He does.  And yet, websites that are supposed to be “Christian” communication sites are plastered with singles’ adds, blind-date fun opportunities and compatibility tests.

Is it just me, or are we missing something???

Single.  The word brings to mind a set of adjectives and adverbs advertised by my culture: available, distant, reclusive, lonely, sad,… it goes on and on.  But, I have to ask, what makes me less interesting, less comfortable, less fun, less fulfilled if I am “single?”  Who says I can’t have all kinds of fun and excitement solo?

I want this page to be a little reminder to singles of how rich a life we have been given.  I can hear them now, cranking up the engine to run me down with the scriptures about how “Adam was alone, and God said ‘it is not good for him to be alone,’ so He made woman” to be a help-meet, companion and all the rest of it.  I KNOW!  I didn’t say I want to stay single the rest of my life; I would love to enjoy the blessing of a soul-mate in wedded bliss.  But, until then, I’m not going to sit on my hands and mope about not having that someone to complete me.

There are too many incredible experiences, too much love to be shared with all kinds of people, too many soul-tingling encounters, too much wisdom to be gleaned to just sit back and wait for “life to begin with that someone.”

NEWS FLASH: Life has already arrived and will pass you by if you don’t wake up and start living it!
